JOB REFURBISHING AND REPAIRING THE STRUCTURE OF LA NIÑA BUILDING IN TORREVIEJA – ALICANTE.
The Community of Owners entrusted us to carry out a series of works aimed at refurbishing and repairing the structure of its building.
The building is located on Doctor Gregorio Marañon Avenue in Torrevieja in the province of Alicante.
The building that we worked on stands between two others on the corner of Doctor Gregorio Marañon Avenue. It consists of 6 upper floors for housing and a ground floor for commercial premises.
A building more than 30 years old
The building, which is more than 30 years old, had structural lesions on the ground floor, more specifically under the floor between the ground floor and first floor.
Urgent refurbishment
The structure of the building is made from reinforced concrete, and it is within the joists of the unidirectional slab that the damage had occurred. This damage was consistent with that caused by damp inside the concrete of the joists, leading to rust and corrosion of the reinforcements. Not tackling this damage promptly and quickly could have led to irreparable damage to the structure, putting it in serious danger of collapse.

Such repair work consists of uncovering any damage, knocking out the damaged concrete to expose the reinforcements, preventing corrosion of the reinforcements, reinforcing or even replacing those reinforcements that are no longer functional, replacing the joists with special mortar and finally replacing the outer layers.
