Construction of a pedestrian footbridge along the Girona river in the town of Beniarbeig in the north of Alicante province, linking the town centre with the Benidcadín public school and municipal sports centre located on the other side of the river. This job was commissioned by the Hon. Beniarbeig City Council and the Hon. Diputación de Alicante. Within the PROVINCIAL COOPERATION PLAN FOR WORKS AND MUNICPAL COMPETITION SERVICES FOR 2014 , the planned works consisted of the construction of a pedestrian footbridge, which would be formed in sections by circular metal profiles and sheets of reinforced concrete, connected to the bridge by stainless steel rods. The structure is a cable-stayed bridge with lights between the supports 36 metres apart. Given the uniqueness of the metal structure, the metal profiles had to be initially curved and mounted in a workshop through an industrial process, and later assembled in the factory next to the river. Finally they had to be transported to their final destination by large tonnage cranes due to the scale of the job. In addition to this work, there are plans for a new pedestrian access road to the municipal sports centre next to the municipal pool. The pavement will be 8cm thick cobblestone. As can be seen in the photo report, the works are progressing nicely with the walkway having been mounted into its final position.
