29 Sep Work at the CEU Jesús María School in Alicante
Metal evacuation staircases, ramps and access routes
New evacuation staircase at the school
The main works consist of three metal structures made of rolled steel and galvanised sheet metal to construct evacuation staircases in various buildings at the school.
A four-storey staircase is being constructed for evacuation from Building G. This has the highest evacuation capacity, at around 800 people.
For the other staircases – I (two storeys) and D (one storey) – in addition to structural steel, ceramic latticework and micro-perforated mini-corrugated sheet metal have been used to create eye-catching cladding that contrasts with the school’s surroundings.

Emergency staircases and ramps
In addition to these works, various stamped concrete floors and paths have been laid. Some of these surfaces have served to remove steps and improve accessibility in various buildings.
Furthermore, a morterenca earth path has been laid between the children’s hall and Building G; several aluminium joinery components have been replaced; and an access point to Hall F has been modified, enlarging it to allow emergency vehicles to enter.
