  • Segunda Carrera Solidaria Facultad de Medicina San Juan de Alicante (Esclapes e Hijos SL)
Segunda Carrera Solidaria Facultad de Medicina San Juan de Alicante (Esclapes e Hijos SL)

The Miguel Hernández University Faculty of Medicine charity run is organised by students and professors of degrees taught in the Faculty of Medicine: Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Medicine and Podiatry; and the Service for Students with Disabilities (ATED).

This project is aimed at promoting inclusion amongst people with disabilities in sports in an effort to contribute to the work of associations, NGOs and trusts around us. Everybody – with or without a disability – who is more than 6 years old can participate.

This is a charity event and therefore 100% of the money raised through registrations will be donated to NGOs, associations or trusts. The money collected will be divided into seven “prizes”, each amounting to 14.3% of the grand total. The winning team of the 4 x 400m relay race and both the male and female winners of the 5 km and 10 km races will receive one of these prizes and gets to choose an organisation to which the funds will be donated.

The event will be held on 13th March 2016 beginning at 9 AM. Please arrive early to leave enough time to collect bibs, store bags and warm up.

The finish line will be located on the Plaza de l’Ordana in San Juan de Alicante.

It will be organised into the following categories:

  • 5 kilometre race
  • 10 kilometre race
  • 3 kilometre walk
  • 4 × 400 metre relay race. In this race there are 3 categories:
    1. FAMILIES: Suitable for children and adults with or without disabilities (limited running ability).
    2. ADAPTED ADULTS: Suitable for adults in which one or more of the members have limited running capacity
    3. ABSOLUTE ADULTS: Suitable for adults whose members have no running limitations

In groups (relay) which include a runner with limited running capacity, a time compensation system will be applied.

The starting times will be as follows:

9:00 3 KM Walk (finishing at 10 a.m.)

10:00 4 X 400m Relay Race

10:30 5 KM and 10 KM Race

At the time of registration you are free to choose the organisation to which you would like to allocate the prize in the event of winning your category.
